Membership Information

Membership in the GridWise™ Alliance is open to any public or private entity that provides goods, services and/or support in the areas of power delivery, communication, control systems, and information technologies for enhancing functionality within the U.S. electric system and electricity markets including, but not limited to, Utilities, Energy Service Providers, Equipment manufacturers, Transmission operators, information technology companies, National labs, State energy agencies, non-profits and others.

As a member of the GridWise Alliance you will be viewed as a leader in transforming the nation’s electric system; helping to shape a national R & D agenda, focusing Congressional attention on strategic issues, showcasing innovative solutions and highlighting your own related efforts. Membership results in strong collaborative relationships, and allows the members, both large and small, to extend their impact and their influence.

Classes of Membership

The GridWise Alliance has three classes of membership.

  1. Full Member: Full Membership is open to any business entity or other commercial entity that supports the vision, mission and activities of the Corporation. Full Members have the right to hold a board seat, nominate and vote for Board candidates, join committees, and participate fully in Corporation activities.
  2. Associate Member: Associate Membership is available to energy industry stakeholders such as governmental entities, non-profit corporations or associations whose primary source of revenue is membership dues and individuals that support the vision and mission of the Corporation. Associate Members can participate in all activities but will have restricted rights with respect to nominating and voting for Board seats and participating on the Executive Committee.
  3. Affiliate Member: Affiliate Membership is available to colleges, universities and state energy organizations. In lieu of membership dues, Affiliate Members agree to provide services in-kind that support the objectives of a modern grid. Affiliate Members can participate in all activities but will have restricted rights with respect to nominating and voting for Board seats and participating on the Executive Committee.
